How to Install

Successful installation is the result of precision preparation. Our guides provide the exact routing dimensions for every rod type to ensure a functional, rattle-free fit. We emphasize the importance of matching the channel to the rod’s dimensions exactly, protecting your neck from the stresses of uneven pressure or mechanical vibration.

Essential Preparation and Routing Safety

Before making the first cut, verify your router bit's condition and the stability of your neck blank. A secure jig is non-negotiable for maintaining a perfectly centered channel throughout the entire length of the neck. Always perform a test pass on a scrap piece of wood of similar density to calibrate your depth settings. Precision at this stage prevents irreparable damage to your tonewoods and ensures the adjustment mechanism operates without friction once the fretboard is bonded.

Dual Action

Route a straight 6mm wide by 9mm deep channel for these rods. Ensure the rod fits snugly without forcing. Test the adjustment nut clearance at the headstock before glueing the fretboard to ensure full rotation and access for the adjustment tool.

Two Way

These rods require a precise, flat-bottomed channel. Use a dedicated router bit to match the rod width exactly. Apply a small amount of silicone at the anchor points to prevent internal vibration and potential buzzing within the neck assembly.

Spoke Wheel

Route the main channel and extend it into the heel of the neck. Create a larger, recessed cavity for the adjustment wheel. Verify the wheel spins freely against the wood before final assembly to ensure smooth adjustment after the instrument is finished.

Carbon Fiber

Install these in pairs flanking the central truss rod for maximum stiffness. Route channels slightly deeper than the rod height. Use high-strength epoxy to bond the carbon fiber to the wood, creating a rigid, permanent reinforcement that resists warping.
